Tern Bicycles, famous for their unique approach to urban mobility, unveils the next generation of Vektron folding eBike to the U.S. This next generation has several key updates, including a Gates belt drive for low-maintenance miles.

Founded in 2011, Tern Bicycles designs and builds premium bikes and eBikes that help people replace car trips with pedal-powered transport. Responding to one of the most common customer requests, the new Vektron P5i swaps the traditional chain for a clean, quiet Gates belt drive paired with a Shimano Nexus 5 hub.
The result: a smooth-shifting, low-maintenance commuter ideal for cars, vans, and RVs—without the grease or noise of a traditional drivetrain.

The Vektron rides like a full-sized eBike thanks to its stiff aluminum frame, reinforced handlepost, and OCL+ frame joint—all engineered to minimize flex.
Borrowing design elements from Tern’s GSD and HSD cargo eBikes, the new geometry creates a more upright, comfort-oriented riding position, while the Vektron P10 retains its sportier handling with a Shimano Deore 1×10 drivetrain.

Folding in under 10 seconds, the Vektron collapses into a self-locking, compact package that rolls easily on its own wheels—small enough to slide under a desk or fit next to a workstation.

With a growing number of uncertified eBikes on the market, Tern emphasizes safety. The Vektron meets both EN 15194 and UL 2849 standards, meaning the motor, battery, and charger are independently verified for safety and reliability.

Tern backs the Vektron with a 10-year warranty on the frame, handlepost, and fork, plus 7-year support for key components like the battery and electronics.
The Warranty Transfer Program also ensures coverage moves with the bike to new owners—maintaining resale value and buyer confidence.
