Salsa Cycles has launched Wanderosa, the bike industry’s first full-suspension gravel ebike.

Wanderosa marks the fifth ebike platform that the Minnesota-based company has released since February 2024.

120mm of front suspension travel and 110mm of rear wheel travel using a flex-stay design on the carbon fiber frame.

Wanderosa is built on a carbon fiber frame with a flex-stay rear suspension design for 110mm of rear-wheel travel and a suspension fork with 120mm of travel. Electric assist comes from FAZUA’s Ride 60 class 3 mid-drive system (class 1 in Canada) with 60Nm maximum torque and a 480Wh FAZUA Energy internal battery.

According to Joe Meiser, category manager at Salsa, Wanderosa was inspired by the team’s extensive ebike experience.

“After ride experiences on a wide variety of gravel ebikes and light drive systems, our team recognized we had an opportunity to merge the power of FAZUA’s Ride 60 drive system with an equally capable ride experience. Wanderosa comes from the team that defined gravel to begin with and continues to develop products that redefine what gravel is”.

Why Wanderosa?

Wanderosa is a genre-bending blend of full-suspension capability, progressive drop-bar geometry, and motorized assistance for a radical ride experience.  Wanderosa inspires riders to take their gravel adventures to a new level.

Wanderosa is for riders seeking a gravel experience they can’t find anywhere else. They’re always pushing farther/faster/funner, and Wanderosa fuels that progression by harnessing e-assist to the fullest.

Fazua Powered

Salsa chose to build the Wanderosa around the Fazua Ride 60 mid-drive platform. A Class 3 option for US models and Class 1 in Canada.

The Fazua 60 has 60Nm of torque and a 480Wh internal battery. The whole system weights about 9-lbs.

Fazua Road Control blips can be found under the bar tip for easy access and the slim LED Hub sits on the top tube.

Frame Details and Builds

The Wanderosa has a High-modulus carbon fiber frame with flex-stay suspension design to reduce weight and complexity, packing in 110mm of rear wheel travel with a 45mm stroke shock. Riders can choose to reduce the rear travel to 100mm by changing to a 40mm stroke shock.

Out front the Wanderosa employs a 120mm travel fork.

Clearance? We’re looking at a whopping 29 x 2.35″ tire clearance across all sizes and builds. This is a SRAM UDH compatabile frame with SRAM as the chosen drivetrain for current models.

On-bike cargo mounts let riders carry their ride essentials in a streamlined way. Direct mount compatbile with custom frame pack, all sizes fit one bottle, accessory mounts on the downtube, tool/tube mounting location and a pump mount.

Geometry

Wanderosa’s progressive gravel geometry combines long reach with short stems and wide drop bars. This puts riders in a comfortable and confidence-inspiring position with plenty of control on rugged terrain at higher speeds.

A 65.3 degree head tube angle provides stability while a 75.1 degree effective seat tube angle maintains a comfortable pedaling position.

All frames share a long rear center of 441mm and a 332.4mm bottom bracket height.

Salsa Cycles is on a mission to make the best possible bikes for adventure. The Salsa team has centuries of collective experience riding, working on, thinking about, and designing bikes. This background informs everything we do. It inspired us to develop the industry’s first gravel race bike and full-carbon fat tire bike. It pushed us to dream up drop-bar bikepacking machines such as Fargo and Cutthroat. It influenced our mountain bikes’ characteristic ride quality.

It has also made us believers of the idea that adventure makes life better. We’ve learned the life-changing power of new places, new people, extraordinary achievements, and unforgettable experiences. We want to bring this wonder to everybody, so we design our products with versatility and features for imaginative riders. We tell stories that educate and inspire. As a B Corporation, we work to build a community in which everyone feels welcome to ride with us.
