Versatile, Thoughtful, and Built for Real-World Riding
If you’re familiar with Electric Bike Journal, you’ll know we’ve been fans of what Orbea has been doing with the Kemen electric bike since the beginning – and for good reason. The Kemen platform is incredibly adaptable. Whether you’re commuting across town, heading out on a light trail ride, or dipping your toes into some casual bikepacking, the Kemen rises to the occasion.
The Lineup: Kemen Tour vs Kemen ADV
Before we dive into the Kemen Tour, it’s worth noting that Orbea offers a slightly burlier sibling: the Kemen ADV, previously seen as the Kemen SUV. If your riding takes you off the beaten path more often than not, the ADV would be worth a look. But for the majority of urban riders and weekend explorers, the Kemen Tour hits that sweet spot of performance, comfort, and good looks.
Step-Over or Step-Through?
Orbea offers both a step-over and step-through (mid-step) frame. Personally, I favor the mid-step for my urban bikes. For various reasons, ease of on and off being the highlight. Both frame styles can be found in Small, Medium, and Large, with three colors to choose from.
Class 1 or Class 3?
The Kemen Tour is available in either a Class 1 (20mph) or Class 3 (28mph) Shimano EP6 mid-drive motor. Fortunately, the price is not affected by choosing between either Class rating, freeing you up to choose the right bike for your local ebike regulations.
With an integrated 630Wh battery, riders should expect to see at least 40-50 miles of range.
Suspension, Drivetrain, Brakes
All Kemen Tour models will be equipped with an 80mm SR Suntour fork. MOBIE 34 Air on the Tour 10, NX1 32 Air on the Tour 20, and NVX 32 Coil on the Tour 30 model.
All models have a Shimano CUES drivetrain, 9-speed on the 30, 10-speed on 20, and 11-speed on the 10.
For stopping power, you get Magura hydraulic disc brakes on the Tour 10 and 20, while the Tour 30 gets Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes.

Kemen Tour Features
After our time on Orbea’s Diem, we knew the future of the Urban line of eBikes was in store for even more feature integration and design.
The rear light is also integrated into the fender now, for a very sleek placement. Our favorite light, the visibility light that we’ve seen on the Orbea urban bikes, has been made larger with more wrap-around. This means greater visibility from more angles both day and night.
The front light is now integrated into the handlebars. I like this placement, it’s sleek and streamlined, freeing up one more mounting point you may be looking for.
Speaking of mounting points, there is no display or any unnecessary accessories mounted anywhere on the bike. With so many people liking their displays for basic bike information or navigation, Orbea feels as though connecting your smartphone to the bike is a better usage of storing your phone and having less components on the bike when you aren’t looking to have a display clutter your handlebars. An SP Connect mount is integrated into the stem cap. It’s nice being able to tuck your phone back and keep it flush with the bars at an ergonomic angle.
Orbea always does a good job with their fenders and racks on their urban bikes. They always look so well thought out, as though the bike was made for them. The fenders are nice full-length aluminum fenders with extended mudguards. The integrated rear rack is rated for 20kg (~45 lbs), perfect for panniers, whether that be traditional hooks, Ortlieb’s QL3.1 MIK system and MIK-side mounting systems.
Less of a feature and more in line with the integration and sleek, streamlined looks, the Kemen Tour has integrated cable routing through the stem and frame. For starters, it looks good, internal routing helps to clean up the mess of cables. I will say from experience, past integrated cable routing on the Kemen has drastically improved and they really have found their way. This has been the easiest system to service for general maintenance. Much easier to get the cables into position after loosening things up. Why is this detail significant?
The Kemen Tour comes with a spacer to extended the stem about 2″. This allows you to offset your handlebars further forward. Depending on which orientation you can even raise them at the same time. I’m sure once you get them set, you’ll likely not be digging into the stem and having to deal with any wiring, but it’s nice that for that single time experience, it won’t cause much of a fuss.
There are mounting points on the underside of the top tube for tools, or in my case a lock, and there is ample space on the downtube for a full-size water bottle.

Who is the Kemen Tour for?
Commuters. Urban explorers. Weekend riders. Take your pick, the Kemen Tour is for everyday riders , whatever the adventure. While the Kemen ADV will have you more prepped for rougher terrain, the Kemen Tour is fantastic for navigating the city streets and recreational bike paths.
It’s not an ultra-minimal city runabout, or an overly built robust cargo carrier, but that’s the point. The Kemen Tour strikes a balance between everyday essentials and versatile performance, making it a great choice for riders who want to simplify their gear and just ride more.
As with past Kemen models, Orbea has strengthened the rear end to confidently accept a tow behind trailer. Unlocking the Kemen Tour to shuttle kids around with ease.

Final Thoughts
The Kemen Tour is ideal for riders looking for a practical, stylish, and adaptable urban e-bike. Whether you’re commuting, running errands, or sneaking in a weekend gravel adventure, it’s up fo the task. With thoughtful integrations, customizable fit, and a reliable drive system, it hits a sweet spot between performance and everyday utility.
If you’re seeking a one ebike that do just about everything, without overcomplicating the ride experience, the Kemen Tour, once again, should be high ranking on your list of bikes to check out. ![]()
