Trek announced today their all-new FX+ 1 an urban delight, now with the addition of throttle assist. The brand continues to bring the same riding comfort, lightweight design, and capabilities we’ve come to expect from the FX+ family.
Featuring an easy-to-use throttle system, Trek FX+ 1 delivers an instant boost with just the push of a button, and comes available in tow models to meet eBike regulations here in the US.

The FX+ 1S is a Class 2/3 model with a top speed up to 28mph with pedal assist. Meanwhile, the Class 2 FX+ 1 version will have a top speed up to 20mph. That’s two separate models to best suit your local and state eBike speed regulations.
All bikes will feature the EasyMag. This is part of the new tech that has us most excited. After fussing with charge ports and getting that perfect alignment sorted while bending over in the garage looking upside down, or fishing in the dark to plug in your eBike, the EasyMag is the simplest and most effective way to charge an eBike we’ve seen.
The EasyMag from Trek is a portable charging system, similar to charging systems we’re familiar with, however, it attaches magnetically to the bike.
Simply place the charge cord directly onto the charging port of the frame and it will magnetically stick into place in any orientation. This is something we’ve long waited for in the world of eBikes and are excited to see. Another benefit in being magnetic is that there is no damage to be had if accidentally tripping on the cord while charging your bike.

Trek’s FX+ 1 will have built-in turn signals and a rear brake light added to both models enhancing road visibility.
For power, there will be a 520Wh integrated battery offering up to 50 miles of range. This will be accompanied by the Hyena 500w 60Nm rear hub drive unit and an integrated full-color LED screen.

We had a chance to connect with the Team at Trek to hear more about the FX+ 1 while we wait for one to arrive for test.
Here are some of our main takeaways for tech and integration that we’re looking forward to:
- The FX+ 1 will start at $1999 for all models
- Two frame styles, both a mid-step and step-over in sizes Small, Medium, and Large
- Shimano Essa 8-speed drivetrain with a widerange 11-45 cassette and 40t chainring
- The FX+ 1 models will have 650 x 50mm Bontrager GR0 Comp tires
- There is a QR Thru axle on the fork
- Overall weight will be just under 50 pounds at 48.5 pounds for a size Medium
- All new Junction box with color coded wiring making it easier and faster to add electrical accessories
Overall, an exciting new offering to the Trek lineup that we’re looking forward to getting time on to share our thoughts on performance, comfort, and of course value.
