The brand new Muga blurs the line between city capable and off-road ready. Just when we think Orbea has outdone themselves with another innovative bike, they unveil another new machine to enter your dream state.

Over the years we’ve been thuroughly impressed with the Kemen and found ourselves fulfilling the city to off-road pursuit. All the while the Diem showed us how to appreciate frame dynamics and taught us a thing or two about Enviolo’s Automatiq.

The Muga to us seems to blend all the good things we’ve enjoyed from Orbea over the last few years into this new and highly innovative electric bike. Powered by Bosch’s Performance Line CX, room for a 750Wh battery and a range extender, with the benefits of full suspension and a mixed wheel size, we are beyond eager to get our time in the saddle.

Muga’s frame geometry and suspension system are directly inspired by Orbea’s mountain bike expertise. With 115 mm of rear travel and 120 mm air-sprung forks, it’s ready to tackle anything from cobbled city streets to rocky forest trails. The rear suspension, finely tuned for comfort and control, features a FOX Float shock with lockout, while the 120 mm fork maintains responsive, intuitive handling.

The patented Adjustable Cockpit offers four handlebar positions, letting riders choose between upright urban cruising and trail-focused agility with ease. The cockpit also includes an integrated dropper post, remote controlled from the handlebars, to adjust saddle height on the fly—crucial for mounting, maneuvering, or descending.

The Active Geometry keeps the weight distributed perfectly between the wheels, enhancing stability and control. With a 29″ front and 27.5″ rear wheel combination, Muga remains agile, even when fully loaded. Available in four frame sizes, every rider can find their perfect fit.

Go Anywhere Assistance

Muga’s heart is the latest Bosch CX motor that delivers smooth assistance with precise control. Whether it means scaling steep climbs or blending into urban traffic, the system delivers precise, intelligent control. With four assistance levels, the rider decides how much effort they want to contribute.

Battery options include a 600 Wh lightweight pack or a larger 750 Wh battery for longer rides. And for those looking to truly push the boundaries, the PowerMore 250 Wh Range Extender adds extra distance without compromise. Compact and bottle-cage mounted, it’s plug-and-play for spontaneous adventure.

Muga features Orbea’s Secure Battery System, keeping the battery locked inside the downtube—safe from damage, rattles, or theft—while maintaining a sleek, balanced frame. The beauty of this system is that it also removes weight, meaning that Muga is one of the lighter bikes in this category.

Smart by Design. Tough by Nature

Muga is more than ready for real-world challenges. Every element, from frame to accessories, has been engineered together from the ground up to create a robust, cohesive system.

The Quick Fix Equipment System enables riders to install accessories quickly and securely, while integrated racks support up to 30 kg. Using the MIK HD system, bags or child seats can be clicked on or off in seconds. Muga racks also support Ortlieb QL 3.1, MIK, and MIK-SIDE systems.

The optional front rack carries up to 10 kg and mounts directly to the frame for better steering control. Trail-ready mudguards are silent, smooth inside to avoid dirt build-up, and designed to fit wider tires without compromise.

With multi-mounting points on the frame, riders can install a lock, bottle cage, or range extender as needed. Muga 20 and 30 models are also trailer compatible, expanding versatility even further.

The integrated kickstand, protected rear shock, and advanced alloy frame construction round out a design built to thrive in rough conditions, while maintaining a sleek, city-ready profile. The frame features invisible welds and optimized stiffness-to-weight ratios—backed by Orbea’s lifetime warranty.

Safety Built In

Safety is at the core of Muga’s DNA. A full intelligent lighting system is standard, activating automatically to illuminate the path and make one visible from all sides.

The Supernova Starstream headlight is fully integrated into the handlebars or front rack—protected from theft or damage while delivering a powerful, unobstructed beam. A rear alert light intensifies when braking, warning traffic behind.

The cockpit includes a wraparound position light, improving side visibility and helping riders stay safe from every angle. All lights meet StVZO compliance for peace of mind across Europe.

Security doesn’t stop at lighting. Muga is Bluetooth tracker compatible with systems like Bosch Connect, AirTag, and Tile Mate—hidden within the frame for added discretion. The Bosch Flow app adds digital locking, turning a smartphone into a key and locking the motor automatically when you walk away.

Models and availability

Muga is available in three carefully designed versions to suit different riding styles and preferences. Muga 10 features a low-maintenance belt drive paired with fully automatic shifting for a smooth, hassle-free experience. Muga 20 combines a traditional chain-drive system with electronic Shimano Cues shifting, while Muga 30 offers manual Shimano Cues shifting for riders who prefer full control. New frame desing, gear ready racks, Orbea’s well thought out safety features, the Muga checks every checkbox. For those of you looking for a one bike solution, the list is short and the Muga may have just taken the top slot.

Worth mentioning, is that with the new update from Bosch, this CX drive unit will be a candidate for 750W of peak power and 100Nm of torque. Having spent some time on various eMTB’s with the new update, it is quite the dramatic increase in power that impressively doesn’t take away too much of the range.

While the Muga is currently only available to European, Asian, and Oceania markets we’re hopeful to see it’s debut here in the US.
