Weighing in at 200g, the overall dimensions of the Wayside measure 2”x3.4”x.9”. This makes it convenient to fit in just about any pocket, from riding gear to bags or a hip pack.

No more tiny hex wrenches

As a collector of multi-tools and constantly being on the hunt for the perfect one, the Blackburn Wayside has proudly made its way to the top of the pack. The most standout feature and most used tool has been the individual hex wrenches. I can not begin to account for the number of times I’ve had to fight with a multi-tool to use the tiny hex wrenches to adjust bolts. This problem is obsolete with the individual wrenches and gives you plenty of space to get in between cables or close to frame bolts easily. As an added bonus you can use the hollow center of the 8mm hex as an extension for the individual hex wrenches to break free any bolts that are too tight.

Traveled and tested

Having packed the Blackburn Wayside across nearly a dozen states and two countries, the larger size and added weight are well worth it for those riding adventures. Having 18 tools on hand to work on not only your bike but be aid to any other rider near by is well worth it.

With 18 tools, it is hard to imagine where it could be lacking. We would prefer a tire lever with a spare link holder as a replacement to the serrated knife and it would be nice to have a smaller Torx offering as some newer components are beginning to require that.

Overall the Blackburn Wayside leaves very few bolts untouched on todays bikes. For now the Wayside will be found in the frame bag of my current commuter to be available for any emergency that may come up.
