The New Momentum Vida E+

A comfortable and powerful eBike for everyday

Momentum unveils the all new Vida E+, a Class 3 bike for everyday riders. With leisure and recreational riding at the forefront, the Vida E+ stands out from the current lineup as a bike for everyone that can fit in as your commuter, light cargo hauler and most importantly your weekend cruiser to maximize opportunities to spend more time on two wheels.

As with all of our Tech Checks, this is not intended to be a long term review or endorsement of a product but is instead a chance for our viewers and readers to get a deeper look into some of the newest tech and products in electric bikes. We thank Momentum for the opportunity to create this feature and for getting you some valuable insight on this new offering.

The Lab

Powerful Performance: The new Syncdrive Move S rear hub motor has 500w and 60Nm of torque. As a Class 3 bike, it has Pedal-Assist up to 28mph, of which you have the choice to add a Throttle for Class 2 riding or set a Class 1 of 20mph max assist within the Ride Control App. The intelligent Syncdrive technology offers a wonderful blend of power and natural riding feel with the help of advanced torque, speed and cadence sensors.

Range and Charging: A 48v 690Wh removable battery will offer up to 55 miles of pedal assist or 43 miles with throttle only. Thanks to a new 3a charger, 80% charge can be had in 4 hours 40 minutes, with a 100% charge in just over 6 hours.

Sizing and Geometry: Accommodating riders from 5’1″ up to 6’3″, the ALUXX aluminum frameset comes in two different frame sizes. At 6′ tall, I found the Large to be a perfect fit.

Frame Design: The new Vida E frame features a very low step-through design, at 42cm, for easy on and off access. Additionally, a noticeably shorter reach brings the bars closer to the rider for an upright seated position. Not only does it make riding more comfortable, but it also enhances rider safety by keeping your eyes up.

Components: An 80mm suspension fork feels great around town and offers the addtional comfort we all crave. A handle can be found on the saddle, making it easier to lift and move the bike around. The drivetrain is a Shimano 8-speed 11-40T with a 52T chainring, making climbing hills or cruising flat
roads effortless. Tektro 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes with large 180mm rotors and UL certifications the Vida E is safe and easy to control.

Impressive Payload Capacity: As a leisurely focused electric bike, a 300-lb payload capacity can be found, with the total bike weighing 62-lbs. Mounts on the front and rear allow for both a front rack (33-lb max) and a rear rack (55-lb max). Plenty of capability to bring all the essentials and more on every ride.

Customizable Accessories: Along with the front and rear racks, Momentum has addtional accessories like the optional throttle for Class 2 riding, mirrors, fenders, lights, and our favorite, the Transporter Versa G-2 Pannier bag with the Clip-On system adapter for easy on and off use.

More standout features

User Friendly Display: On the bars you’ll find the RideControl Dash Core with a full color LCD. This is the perfect accomplice to the Ride Control App and the Syncdrive system. This module gives you control of the three pedal assist modes and the walk mode, as well as precise mileage estimations.

Ride Control App: The app has useful features like being able to plan routes before a ride, record your rides and even seen your ride history, but there is even more control to be had. The E-Lock setting is a single click option to lock the drive unit down to prevent power and unwanted riders. The Speed Control feature allows you to select between Class 3, 2, or 1, speed assist. Yes there is an optional throttle available for the Vida E for those of you looking for Class 2 power.

Our first impression

After spending some time riding the new Momentum Vida E, it’s clear this isn’t just a small update, it’s a complete rethink of what a leisure e-bike can be. Momentum really nailed the balance between comfort, design, and capability. It feels approachable and natural to ride, whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or someone just getting back on a bike after years away.

The new SyncDrive Move S motor has a really intuitive feel, it’s smooth, predictable, and reacts quickly to how you’re pedaling. There’s plenty of power for getting up hills or keeping pace in traffic, but it never feels jumpy or over-assisted. The bike feels planted and stable, and the upright position gives you great visibility and confidence on the road.

What stood out most is how inviting it is. The low-step frame makes it super easy to hop on and off, and all the touch points — grips, pedals, saddle — feel well thought out. Add in the clean integration of the electronics, the removable battery, and the app features like E-Lock and Speed Control, and you’ve got a bike that’s equal parts smart and simple.

At $2480, the Vida E feels like one of the most approachable, everyday e-bikes we’ve tested, something you can make your own with racks, bags, or just ride as-is for weekend spins. It’s not trying to be a full-on cargo bike or a hardcore commuter; it’s the kind of bike that fits into your life effortlessly.

All in all, Momentum really refreshed this platform from top to bottom, and the result is a bike that’s fun, friendly, and practical, a true “people’s bike” that invites more riders to get out and enjoy the ride.
