Stay dry when riding your ebike

The Showers Pass Men’s Elite III Jacket is the gold standard for riders who refuse to let a heavy downpour keep them off the road. As the flagship of their lineup, it’s built for high-performance cycling, focusing on a mix of extreme waterproofing and a more sustainable footprint. Pair that with the Crosspoint Waterproof Kit Gloves and you’ve got yourself some nice gear to keep you dry on your ride.

The Lab

The Showers Pass Men’s Elite III is a powerhouse rain jacket designed to keep you dry through the toughest conditions. It features the brand-new PORLITE® fabric, a PFAS-free microporous membrane that delivers an impressive 30,000mm waterproof rating and 20,000 g/m²/24hr breathability. Not only is it highly technical, but it’s also eco-conscious, with both the face and backer fabric made from 100% recycled nylon.

The jacket is fully seam-taped to prevent any leaks and features YKK Aquaguard zippers throughout. For ventilation, it utilizes a “Flow-thru” system with large zippered core vents and a back vent to exhaust heat during intense efforts. A unique sternum snap allows you to unzip the front for maximum airflow without the jacket billowing in the wind. To keep you visible in low-light conditions, it’s outfitted with 360° of 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material.

The Crosspoint Waterproof Knit Wool Gloves feature a sophisticated three-layer construction. The exterior is a wear-resistant knit, but the “magic” happens in the middle: a waterproof, breathable Artex membrane that keeps wind and rain out while allowing sweat to escape. Inside, the gloves are lined with high-quality Merino wool, known for its natural ability to regulate temperature and stay warm even when damp.

To ensure you maintain control of the bike in slick conditions, the palms and fingers are covered in a silicone print for enhanced grip. There is also conductive knitting on the index finger and thumb so you can use touchscreens.  Despite their technical capabilities, they look and feel like a standard knit glove, offering a low-profile aesthetic that works as well off the bike as it does on it. They are also fully machine washable, making them easy to maintain after a muddy ride.

Our Thoughts – Elite III Jacket

The Elite III isn’t just a rain jacket, it’s a high-performance shell that feels premium the moment you put it on. While some waterproof jackets can feel stiff or heavy, the Elite III maintains a tailored, cycling-specific fit with a drop tail for rear coverage and forward-oriented shoulders that feel natural in the drops or on the hoods.

The breathability is where this jacket really shines. Even on those strenuous climbs where you’re working up a sweat, the core vents and PORLITE fabric do a great job of keeping the “greenhouse effect” at bay. We also enjoy the versatility, it’s light enough to be packed down into its own back pocket, making it easy to toss in a pannier or bag. The reflective strips also do a solid job to help keep you visible in those low light conditions.

The fit is on the slimmer side, so if you’re planning on layering it over a heavy fleece or a bulky mid-layer, you might consider sizing up. I opted for the medium size so I could wear a warmer layer underneath. It does come with a more premium price point, but for the serious cyclist or daily commuter who faces heavy rain, the Elite III is a fantastic investment in comfort and quality. It’s a reliable piece of kit that ensures you’ll stay dry and visible, no matter what the clouds have in store.

Our Thoughts – Cross Point Waterproof Knit Gloves: Pro Wool

There is something impressive about a glove that looks like a traditional sweater-knit but can be held under a running faucet without letting a drop through. The Merino wool lining feels fantastic against the skin, providing a soft, cozy feel that most technical rain gloves lack. They offer a great balance of warmth and dexterity, making them ideal for those “in-between” days where it’s too cold for summer gloves but not quite freezing enough for heavy lobster mitts.

The fit is snug and stretchy, which helps maintain a good feel for your brake levers and shifters. While they are highly effective at blocking wind and water, the knit exterior can hold a bit of surface moisture (though it won’t reach your hands), so they may take a little longer to dry out than a hardshell glove. For the cyclist who values a natural feel and reliable weather protection, these are a standout investment that feels premium from the first mile.

This combo will keep your upper body nice, dry and comfortable on those wetter rides. We still aren’t out of the rain yet here in the PNW, so these items will still be making their way onto the bike with us. If you want full coverage, we reviewed the Showers Pass Timberline Pants in the past which we liked to keep our legs dry.
