We were stoked to get the new Showers Pass Timberline Collection in for review after seeing their press release. The Timberline Collection is built for people that love to adventure and spend time outdoors. It is built with eco-friendly material to keep you warm and dry on colder weather adventures.

The Lab

The Showers Pass Timberline Collection Jacket is made from a Biosource nylon face fabric, recycled polyester lining and Clean Color Technology. The 3-Layer Artex fabric is lightweight, soft, durable and breathable. It has a waterproof, seem taped construction to keep the water out. The large core vents with water resistant zippers also double as hand pockets, with a key clip in the right hand pocket. There are two internal dump pockets that provide ample storage as well. The hood is removable and adjustable, enough to fit over helmet. The jacket has double toggle hem cinch for adjustability on the fly. The collar is lined with a soft moisture-wicking lining. There are reflective details to a help keep you seen.

Showers Pass Timberline Collection Cycling Rain Apparel

The Showers Pass Timberline Pants are made of the same eco-friendly materials as the jacket. They have a zippered fly for easy on-off access and have long ankle zippers to make putting on with shoes easier. The knees are articulated for ease with pedaling. There are also reflective hits on the knee, ankle zips and on the back left to help keep you visible in the dark. The Timberline Jacket and Pants both have ample room for layering over warmer layers.

Conclusion

Living in somewhere that rains for what feels like half the year, it is important to have good gear to keep you dry. In the past when heading out on a rain ride in the wet cold I would throw on my snowboard gear. That gear is warm, but bulky and heavy, not ideal for pedaling. When I first received the Showers Pass Timberline collection I was excited to see that it wasn’t bulky or heavy.

The Timberline Jacket in Fatigue Green was my choice, as it is a color that isn’t flashy but not black, and still goes with most of my cycling gear. The fit of the jacket felt a little baggy when just wearing a long sleeve underneath, but the second I put on a sweater or jacket it fit well and did not restrict movement. As this is made for colder weather, most of the time I will be wearing this with multiple layers underneath. The velcro on the sleeves do a great job of adjusting to the size of your wrist with or without gloves on. They are also a little longer which is nice to help keep out the elements.

The Timberline Jacket does a great job of wicking away the water to keep you dry. It is pretty satisfying to see the water bead up on the jacket and then just trickle off. The length of the jacket in the back is a bit longer so you don’t have a gap when leaning forward while riding. The removable hood is nice and large and fits over a one of my larger helmets which is really nice to keep your head dry. The synch straps on the hood are quick to adjust on the fly as well.

The Timberline Pants are easy to get on over my pants with shoes on. There is just enough room to make this easy to do and the zippers at the ankle are a very nice addition. The tapered fit of the pants are just snug enough to keep them from rubbing against each other when walking, so you don’t get that rubbing fabric together sound. The pants pockets also have ample room for a phone and keys and the waterproof zipper keep them nice and dry.

Riding in the Timberline Collection is awesome and does not add any bulk to your outfit. It is nice to know that when heading out on a day with rain or the chance of rain your clothes will be dry underneath. Seeing the water bead off the jacket and pants is satisfying as well. The collar comes up high and can cover the chin, and every now and then something did snag part of my beard. Nothing painful, just something a bearded person may experience. Not only have I been using the jacket/pants combo for riding, but also for the rainy dog walks. Just wish they made a set for my dog!
