Aventon Abound, Aventon’s first budget friendly cargo ebike.

The Lab

A color display mounted on the handlebars shows speed, odometer, and battery percentage readouts, and can sync with the Aventon App. The bike’s drivetrain features seven speeds and twist shifter, while the hydraulic disc brakes provide reliable stopping power.

The Aventon Abound also comes equipped with a front suspension fork with 50mm of travel and lockout. A dropper seat post and foldable handlebars make this easier for storage. Advantages

The Aventon Abound comes with many accessories that would otherwise be extra expenses on other cargo bikes. This means that you won’t have to worry about buying as many additional accessories straight away. If you would like to get additional accessories, Aventon sells a variety of them specifically made for the Abound. This way you can get the accessories you want to make the abound perfect for your needs.

Straight out of the box we noticed that the Abound comes shipped wrapped in a lot of recycled materials. This is a good benefit as you can recycle most of the packaging instead of throwing it all away. The use of paper ties instead of zip ties is a nice step towards having more sustainable packaging.

The Abound has integrated lights which provide added visibility while riding. This is especially important if you’re riding at night or in low light conditions. Additionally, the bike has blinkers integrated onto the rear light, which makes it easier for others to see you which direction you will be turning.

The torque sensor provides power quickly and efficiently. The power comes on smoothly and strong when you put down some power on the pedals. The thumb throttle is also very convenient to have to get you moving from a stop.

The front suspension with 50mm of travel and a lockout feature helps handle bumps and rough terrain with ease, while still being able to lock out the suspension when you don’t need it. It does a good job of dampening the bumps in the road to make the ride more comfortable. Additionally, the dropper seat post allows for quick adjustments on the fly. The folding handlebars help make this bike more compact when you want to store it.

Disadvantages

One of the drawbacks of the Aventon Abound is its weight. At 81 pounds, it can be quite challenging to transport or move around. The weight of the bike will make it a bit difficult to lift it or transport it in a vehicle. Since this bike is geared towards more of a car replacement and utility bike, that shouldn’t be an issue for most.

We did encounter some speed wobble on the front end when taking a hand off during acceleration. This occured  when the bike was under acceleration and had a bit weight on the front end. It really only happened when you have some weight up there and you are under acceleration. If you had both hands on the bars and a nice grip you didn’t get any of that speed wobble. That could be avoided by balancing out the weight better and keeping a nice grip on the bars.

Final Thoughts

Aventon hit the mark with getting a budget-friendly cargo bike that can haul your groceries and even your kids. The Abound is a great budget-friendly bike for someone looking for a cargo bike to replace their car on these short errands or even further ones because you could get up to 50 miles of range. It was awesome to run around town and do those errands we would usually do in a car to carry some loads

We just hopped on this bike loaded it up got some straps and we’re good to go. You can even add the back seat on there with the rails and then you can bring some kids on there. The Abound would be awesome to bring your kids to school on they would have a blast doing so. If you are looking for a budget-friendly cargo bike the Aventon abound is a great option for you.
