Lectric XPeak Fat Tire Electric Bike Review

Lectric releases their first fat tire full size electric bike, the Lectric XPeak. We went down to Phoenix, Arizona to join Lectric before the launch to tour the facility, meet the team, and of course, throw a leg over the new Lectric XPeak.

In’s and Out’s of the XPeak

Over the last few years Lectric has been making their name in the electric bike world with 20″ wheels and a unique frame style. The XPeak marks a change for the brand as they release their first electric bike with 26″ wheels and a more traditionally recognized frame style.

For us there are three major takeaways with the Lectric XPeak. A newly designed 750w rear hub motor, 26″ wheels that tower over their usual 20″ wheels, and a ISO4210-10 eMTB certification.

Lectric’s M24 rear hub motor is a new design similar to the 750w motor seen on the XPedition. This new motor is significantly quieter than their previous motor and has increased torque, with a 1310w peak output and 85Nm of torque.

Rolling on 26″ x 4″ wide fat tires with a nice aggressive tread, the Lectric XPeak is ready for offroad adventures. The tires will come ready with Slime for added puncture protection.

The ISO4210-10 eMTB certification takes the XPeak up a notch. The testing the XPeak has undergone allows it to meet the demands seen by the industry’s leading eMTB enduro and downhill bikes.

There will be two frame styles available. A step through and a high step model. Both models weigh in at 73 pounds and will accommodate riders from about 5’2″ 6’2″, with the step through fitting the broader range of riders.

As an offroad capable electric bike, the RST Renegade front fork provides the suspension the XPeak needs. There is a preload adjustment and a lockout to get the ride feel.

The XPeak has a Shimano Tourney 7-Speed drivetrain, Hydraulic disc breaks with 180mm rotors.

Similar to the XPedition the XPeak will use Lectric’s PWR technology for the Pedal Assist. The PWR technology offers a similar riding feel to a torque sensor while managing each PAS mode by wattage output.

Another first for Lectric with the XPeak is the use of an ATV style thumb throttle. It has comfortable ergonomic control making the output easy to control while riding on rough terrain.

Lectric XPeak Fat Tire Electric Bike

Ready for adventure

After hearing from Levi about the XPeak, we made our way over to North Mountain to get our first ride in. Now it is worth mentioning that the XPeak is an offroad capable electric bike and not a dedicated electric mountain bike. Although it is tested to the same rigorous testing.

The XPeak manages the 73 pounds quite well and that is largely in part to new M24 750w motor. It has plenty of power to pedal up steep trails and having throttle assist makes it that much easier.

With plenty of power and all sorts of storage options, the XPeak is ready for adventure. The accessories that Lectric will have for the XPeak include: Front and Rear Racks, Small and Large Baskets, an Elite Headlight, and Fenders. For those lucky enough to live in those colder states, Lectric will be releasing a Winter Accessory Bundle that includes: studded tires, an insulated wrap for the battery to keep it at optimum operating temps, and insulated hand guards to keep your hands warm while riding.

From commuting to offroad adventures, the XPeak puts a new spin to the term value.
