Is this the ultimate off-road ebike?
The Revv 1 DRT is the off-road version of the Revv 1. We have reviewed the original Revv 1 full suspension, so check that out to see our thoughts on that one. The DRT version we have here is designed with components and details to improve the riding in rougher terrain. Some main stand out features from the regular Revv 1 are the suspension, tires, spoked wheel and updated frame geometry. As well as those features, the DRT has about a 1 inch taller standover height, about 4 inch longer wheelbase, and overall length is 6 inches longer than its full suspension counterpart.
Ride1Up Revv 1 DRT
The Revv 1 DRT is a multi class ebike, but comes shipped as a class 2 ebike with pedal assist and throttle up to 20mph. You are able to switch into the other modes via the controller. Also, the DRT it can be configured to Off-Road mode to reach speeds of over 28mph, as well as use a “boost” feature that increases the controllers amperage from 28 to 35 amps. This gives you a faster acceleration rate as well as a slight top speed increase.
The motor is a rear hub motor with 1000w sustained power and produces 95nm of torque. It has a 52v 20ah battery that is UL certified. The wheels are 20 inch wheels and have 20×4” off road tires. The fork is a double crown suspension fork with 150mm of travel, and the rear suspension has 76mm of travel with rebound adjustment, compression and preload adjustments.
The DRT’s pedal assist sensor is a current based cadence system and it has a half twist moto style throttle on the right hand of the bars. The display is a 3.5 in center mounted display that shows you all your information. Furthermore, the features specific to the DRT model is the moto inspired fairing with integrated headlight that has a high and a low beam, moto style fenders, and the removable metal molle plate in the center of the frame. These all give the bike a more distinct off road looking style.
The estimated range for the DRT is between 30-60 miles, and if you are in the road/boost mode it will be on the lower end of range, since you are getting more power. Lastly the bike weighs 91 pounds and has a weight capacity of 350 pounds with a price of $2,595.

Initial Thoughts
The Revv 1 DRT is a cool looking bike with its moto inspired styling, and definitely looks more aggressive than the regular Revv 1. Along with the center molle plate to the more aggressive off road tires, it makes you think of the places off the beaten path you can take this. Right away when getting on the bike you notice that it does have a slightly taller stand over height from the beefier rear suspension, and this is helpful when you take this to the dirt.
When cruising around town or the neighborhood we kept it in class 2 mode as that is what is allowed in my area. In this mode you are able to use the throttle as well as pedal. To be honest, I don’t pedal this bike as much as others. To me it is more of a throttle bike, and you can pedal if you want too, but I find myself mostly using the throttle.
In the hillier area that I live in it takes a bit of time to get to the top speed of 20mph on the steeper uphills, but with the torque it can do it. Even so, going downhill the bike would gain speed fast from the weight of it, and it would handle those speeds well. It should be noted, the tires do make a bit of noise since they do have a more off road tread to them, but nothing to be worried about.
Lastly, it is on the heavier side for bikes, coming in at 91 lbs, so loading it into a car would be a challenge for some. Which is another reason I feel someone living in a more rural area would like this bike. If you have a truck or van or motorcycle carrier that would be ideal to transport it around.
Advantages
Now where this bike is most fun is when you take it where the pavement ends. This is where you use the controller to change it to Off-Road mode. This unlocks more speed, as well as the “boost” to get a quick hit of power.
In off road mode you do feel the ramp up of power more, and definitely get a higher top speed. It has been a bit cold and damp while we have had the bike, so mud is a factor. The mud we are dealing with here is more clay-like, and pretty slippery. It also loves to cake up in the tire tread, and everywhere else for that matter. When these tires got loaded up with mud, it became pretty slippery. So, if you plan on riding in a lot of mud, it would be ideal to get a tire more suited for that. These tires felt a lot better in the rockier, gravel type situation. They didn’t collect rocks in the tread and had some good grip.
The fenders on here not only give the bike a more aggressive, moto style look, but do help mitigate some mud/dirt from getting on you. After a ride off road we still did have mud on us, but could only imagine what it would have been like without them.
The DRT did handle well off road, and you definitely feel the beefier suspension. It is playful when you get moving, and makes you want to try and hit any little jump on the trail you can. There wasn’t a situation where we felt the need for more suspension, and if we did get to that point we may be above the bikes pay grade. For power off road, it would be nice if the DRT had more instant power with the twist of the throttle. We may be used to how our dirtbikes ride, and this bike is in a totally different class, but at some points I just wanted some faster power. Without a doubt you do feel some more power in the Boost mode.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the REVV 1 DRT is a fun bike to ride off road and would lend itself well to someone who lived in a more rural area with back gravel roads to explore. I enjoyed riding the DRT more off road then around town, as I felt I wasn’t using it to its full potential. With the ability to switch class modes on the controller, you can definitely do both, but it was a lot more fun off road. Luckily if you are just looking to ride a bike like this around town, Ride1Up does make their Classic Revv 1 that fits well in suburban environment.
If you are looking for a fun moped style ebike to take off road, then the Revv 1 DRT is a great option. Coming in at a much lower price than a bike like the Super73-S Adventure we've reviewed, and even lower than a more comparable full suspension Super73 R-Adventure line, you can have a ton of fun on the Revv 1 DRT for less money. We look forward to having some more adventures on this ebike. Every time we did get to ride it off road, we had a big ol smile on our face.
