A Starter eBike for everyone
Ride1Up Turris Components and Specs
The Ride1Up Turris is a Class 3 electric bike with a powerful 750w rear hub motor with a 48v12.8ah battery integrated into the downtube that is easily removable with a key.
There are 5 levels of Pedal Assist and a thumb throttle. Combined with a Shimano 7 speed drivetrain that favors flat to moderate hills with ease, the steeper terrain is equally as easy with the support from the motor.
The Turris has Zoom Hydraulic Disc Brakes for smooth and strong braking power on and off road. When riding more aggressive terrain, the 100mm suspension fork and Kenda 27.5 x 2.4″ knobby tires are great for offroad terrain, which is where the Turris feels just as comfortable as it does on your commute to work or school.
For $1295, the Turris comes with fenders and a front light rounding out the components and abilities in different terrain, for inclement weather as well.
There are two frame options available, the XR (Step-Over) and ST (Step-Through) frame. Additionally, the Turris will be available in three different color options. The frame design and riser handlebars allow the rider to be in a upright position when riding, offering a comfortable and balanced ride.
Our XR model weighed in around 52 pounds, which came as a surprise being that if feels much lighter. With most of the weight coming from the rear hub motor, the integrated battery located in the downtube helps to balance the weight of the bike.
With a relatively short wheelbase and a short chainstays, around 457mm, the Turris is extremely playful and fun to ride. From jumping off curbs and weaving through traffic, the geometry of the Turris is a wonderful addition to the Ride1Up lineup as a playful do it all electric bike.

What makes the Ride1Up Turris a do everything eBike?
The Ride1Up Turris proved to be comfortable riding not only around town but offroad as well, on bike trails and gravel roads. The design and components of the bike are suited for multisport style riding allowing it to be a relatively universal bike great for beginners or those on a budget. Having ridden the Core 5 from Ride1Up, the Turris seems like the playful sporty version that is more capable on rougher terrain. Beyond the suspension fork and aggressive tires, the frame geometry and rider position makes you feel more stable and in control.
With Winter sticking around and Spring looking to be just as wet, the Turris coming with fenders is another great feature that allows it to be ridden year-round. The Turris stands out as a very capable eBike for a variety of terrains that is comfortable to ride and has plenty of power making it a great value.
When it comes to riding the Turris, it has a very light, nimble feel that we found very playful. From jumping off curbs or playing around in the woods, the Turris is a lot of fun to ride and the thumb throttle makes it easy to zip around.
Limitations of the Ride1Up Turris
The Turris is presented as a capable “do everything” beginner eBike and while testing we put the Turris through some hard work to find those limits. Along the way we had a blast and really only found it having room for a few improvements.
In a more aggressive riding style, the 7 speed drivetrain and large chain ring proved to make riding up very steep terrain more work then we were hoping. A smaller chainring or 11 speed drivetrain with a wider ratio would really set this bike up for all sorts of riding. However, for a beginning rider or less aggressive rider, it by no means isn’t able to do those big climbs.
The geometry of the Turris although fun and playful may feel too short for some. On steeper terrain the rider position makes it easy to lift the front tire up off the ground. This is more of a word of caution than a critique of the Turris, as some may find themselves looping out if they weren’t prepared.
Along the same vein as drivetrain in wanting more. The suspension fork we found most suited for moderate terrain, where as in rougher terrain and riding it like a trail mountain bike, it did not quite have the support we were looking for. There are a lot of great affordable eMTB forks that would work nicely with this bike if someone were to be looking for upgrades down the road.
Final Thoughts
The Ride1Up Turris is designed as a do everything eBike for beginners. Whether you are a student looking for an affordable way to get to class or work, or you’re looking for your first eBike to have weekend adventures on, the Turris is just as capable on road as it is on the trails. The riding position is upright and comfortable for long rides, and aggressive enough to be balanced and in control for more technical riding. Ride1Up included fenders, suspension fork and aggressive tires to benefit the geometry and let the powerful 750w motor give you all the support you need.
