Electric Cargo Bikes
Built for the demands of daily life. With a retro look, fat tires and more accessories than you can imagine, the RemiDemi XL screams all things cargo, or eTility if you ask Benno.
Coming in at $4599 for the Class 3 Bosch powered RemiDemi XL, it is offered in a Class 1 Bosch Performance spec as well. It sits on 20” wheels with 3.6” fat tires. The frames curvy lines use aluminum tubing and a steel fork. The RemiDemi XL has a max payload capacity of 355lbs and weighs in at ~65lbs.
Overall, Benno has a pretty good component spec on the RemiDemi XL. All of which we like and leaving little room for upgrades.
Performance aside, the biggest standout is the largest catalog of accessories to maximize the uses of the RemiDemi XL.
Forget what you know about Cargo bikes, the Cargowagen Neo has all that and more.
Coming in at $4300 the Cargowagen Neo is a Class 3 Bosch Powered electric cargo bike with dual battery compatibility for maximum range and a rack that can hold two kids carriers.
At a glance we see the 20” wheels, a nice sage green with a pop of red, a dropper post, and a very nice low step frame design with a center console. What more could you want? Overall, it’s a very tight, clean, modern look that seems thoroughly thought out.
The Cargowagen Neo has the low profile aesthetic and the performance capabilities to truly be the ideal vehicle replacement.
Coming in at $3500 we see a Class 3 long tail version of the Globe Haul boasting a 441lb load capacity with up to 60 miles of range. This does have throttle assist for smooth and effortless cruising all around town.
The Haul LT has an alloy frame with a steel fork and sits on 20” fat tires. What we really find sets it up for success is an adjust stem and two-stage seat post to change the height easily for riders from 4’5” to 6’4”.
On the functional side of the Haul LT is a cargo bike with abundant frame mounts scattered all over, and there is a cargo-ready design for plenty of mounting options.
Starting at $3200, Momentum offers a cargo/ utility eBike that is worth paying close attention to. Complete with turn signals, a horn, and a 408-lb load capacity we couldn’t help wanting to know more about Cito E+.
The Momentum Cito E+ is the ideal commuter especially if you’re looking to carry some serious gear.
Lightweight and ready to haul, the RFA is smooth, strong, and ready to tackle lives adventures.
With room for two out back and a Class 3 rating, the Xtracycle RFA is a steel-framed cargo cruiser.
At $5499 the Xtracycle delivers a top-tier cargo bike that has been thoroughly developed for quality and performance. It offers an extremely comfortable ride thanks to the steel frame and has a solid payload capacity to graciously carry up to two kids on the rear rack.
Honorable Mentions
Other Electric Cargo Bikes We Like
Not every bike we’ve tested is a top pick, but here are a few more options if nothing above suits you:
- The Rad Power Bikes Radwagon 5 for $2399: This is the bike I see the most often in my neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. Having had the pleasure of spending many months on the Radwagon 4 and a weekend on the Radwagon 5 in Seattle, we understand why there is such a massive draw to this very capable and comfortable electric cargo bike from Rad Power Bikes.
- The Velotric Packer 1 for $2199: Just a pinch longer than many of the bikes here, the Packer 1 has all the bells and whistles. Beyond it’s high load capacity, it’s stable and smooth with plenty of power. We also tested Velotric Go 1, which is much more compact version of the Packer 1. Both of which are Apple Find My enabled devices helping to keep eyes on your bike at all times.
- The Lectric XPedition for $1329: One of two of the most affordable electric cargo bikes we’ve enjoyed, the Lectric XPedition can be fancied as the most utilitarian cargo bike available. With a robust frame and dual battery capabilities, the XPedition makes hauling all the gear a breeze.
- The Aventon Abound for $1999: Just shy of $2000 the Aventon Abound is a long time favorite of EBJ. The overall fit and finish presents a well put together and smooth riding cargo bike.
